Here is another new track recorded on the olympus LS 100. The microphone is a little windy but it has 8 or 9 tracks so you can see how complex a project can become.

Okay, I admit that's pretty awesome. It puts my DS70 to abismal shame, and I'm now super jealous. It's so hard to get a vocal recording that doesn't sound flat.
This is honestly the best vocal recording I could come up with, and that's after slightly modifying the EQ, something that, for all my apparent audio producing ability I am still not too good at.
My example on youtube
In what setting did you record this track? And did you do this with the original microphone, or one you attached? I don't need something that does layering (because I can do that with audacity) but that is some good sound.
I ran a shore PG27 in to the ls100. I've done no mixing or editing at all as of yet. This is the very rough version that was laid in to the recorder, and it's now been sent over to a friend to master with pro tools. I really like audasity, but to be able to sit somewhere with just a guitar and my pedals, and record rather than being attached to my computer is nice. I recorded the track in 96k 24 bit.
Ohhh okay, so an external microphone. That makes me feel better.
I'll record something today with the stereo internal microphones. They have a sweet sound!
it sounds awesome man, as usual. but this sounded mono for me though.
If anywhere cares where this project progressed to in Pro tools.

that should have said anyone..
Hey that brings up another question: how accessible and user friendly IS Pro tools? I'm using Audacity right now which works pretty well, and soundforge which also works, though is limited because it's not a multi-track editer.
it's a pain and a half! I use it on the mac, and find myself needing tons and tons of sighted help. I have a bit more success with garage band and reeper on the mac. On the PC side, I typically use audasity as well.
Oooooohkay. Never mind. hahah. I'll stick with Audacity until something better comes. Audacity isn't all that bad though. My only real problem with it right now is I'm using a line in cable with my keyboard to record music, but regardless of what setting it's on, there's always just a tiiiny delay between the key I press and the sound I hear. It's due to software playthrough apparently, but I haven't found any solution.
this song kicks ass. i love country music, and this sounds a lot like the stuff I write. keep up the good work.
